John Crowder, who served on Union County school boards for 31 years, died Sunday from a stroke.
A retired manager from Belk Department Store, Crowder earned an Associate of Arts degree in business administration from Central Piedmont Community College in 1968.
Crowder was first elected to serve on a local school board in 1982. He served 10 years with the Monroe City Schools Board of Education and 21 years with the Union County Board of Education.
