Richard Earl Rogers, Sr. INDIAN TRAIL - Richard Earl Rogers, Sr., 79, dedicated father and husband, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late James Belvin Rogers, Sr. and Mary Watkins Rogers. Richard was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars during 26 years with the U.S. Navy, finishing his military career as a Chief with the HM-12 minesweeping squadron in Norfolk, VA. He retired to Indian Trail in 1978, working as a mechanic at Independence Nissan. He finished his working career in 2003 as a driver for Family Dollar. He was a lifelong member of Harrison United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of Indian Trail VFW Post 2423 and a member of American Legion 0262. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Rogers; sons: Richard E. Rogers, Jr. of Charlotte, Michael Rogers of Red Springs, Tim Rogers of Indian Trail, and Jeff Rogers of Unionville; brother: Ronald Rogers of Pensacola, FL; sisters: Pat Siebert of Revelstoke, BC and Jan Moore of Indian Land, SC; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Harrison United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9PM Monday, June 16, 2014, at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. Memorials may be made to Indian Trail VFW Post 2423, P.O.
