Hope Elizabeth Stout
Hope, age 12, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 4 surrounded by her family and precious cats. Hope was a cheerleader at WMS and was also an all star basketball player at WWCAA and was a member of the Weddington Core group bible study. She was a beautiful redhead with a wonderful spirit, a loving heart and a great sense of humor that will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Hope was a member of Matthews United Methodist Church and was looking forward to joining the Youth Group prior to her diagnosis of cancer last summer. She met the challenges of her chemotherapy treatments with a determination to get better, but always had an eye out for others less fortunate than her. She loved life, her family and friends and was always looking for ways to help others.

She will also be missed by her special cats Peanut and Pudge and her dog Daisy. Hope was predeceased by her grandfather Bill Stout of Holden Beach.
The family would like to thank the staff of Blumenthal Oncology, in particular Dr. Daniel McMahan and his nurse Michelle as well as all of the wonderful nurses and staff at the Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center, in particular Courtney Plaisted. Special thanks also go to Kid's Path for their special care for Hope in her final days, in particular to Jennifer Tuttle and 'Jacques with the Dreadlocks'!

Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Hope's name or the Humane Society in recognition of her love for animals.
