John Arlt Obituary
J.B. was born on August 25th, 1926 in New Orleans, LA. He was educated in Louisiana, and attended LSU and graduated from Tulane University in 1949. He served 2 years in The US Navy during WWII. After graduation, he married the late Mary "Bitsy" Powell. They moved from New Orleans to Nashville where Mr. Arlt began a 46 year career in the wholesale lumber business. He moved his business from Nashville to Deerfield Beach, FL in in 1982, and then to Savannah , GA in 1994. He retired from the lumber business in 1996. Bitsy Arlt died in 1995, and he married Jean Dodson in 1996.
Mr. Arlt is predeceased by his sisters Helen and Marie, and his grandson Hunter Mitchell. He is survived by his daughter Cathey and Dr. Larry Mitchell and their children Jay and Reed of Franklin, TN; His daughter Ame of Marco Island, FL, and son John and Gretchen Hillenbrand and their daughters Lola and Tilly, of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by Jean's daughters Kim and Eugene McCarthy and their children Daina, Melissa, and Kevin; Kelly and Angelo Morlacci and their sons Anthony and Nicholas, all from Charlotte, NC.
He was loved by many, and will be dearly missed. Private family internment service in New Orleans.
