David and I went to 3rd and 4th grade together and stayed in touch through all the years. We both gravitated to legal practice, and this morning I missed him sharply. Thank G-D for our friendship and our memories. We loved each other's families and shared stories of life up to the end. Thank you David.

It's been a long time since I last saw David - probably 10-15 years after Beloit. We were on the Israeli Seminar for 4 months together and more. He was a true character, with lots of spontaneity and humor. Lots of fun memories. Earl Berkson

My heart hurts hearing this news. My family has known and used David for 30 years. He was such a magnetic soul and he always made me feel like a million bucks every time we spoke. My mother passed away to cancer 6 years ago and he always spoke so highly of her saying how she was his favorite client ever and that he missed her. I hope you two have found one another and are living it up on the other side. My deepest condolences go out to David's family as his energy here on earth will be so immensely missed!

David came when my brother, Bruce, died. I will never forget how much he cheered and comforted me at such a miserable and awful time. He always made me laugh so much--the world is darker without him in it.

My sincere condolences to all of Dave's family, but especially to Zach and Emily. I always enjoyed my encounters with your dad, and regret that it's been some time now since I last saw him. I remember him coaching Zach's baseball team (2nd grade!) and how enthusiastic and kind he was to the kids. I also remember, Emily, that he coached your 3rd grade basketball team, and how much fun he seemed to have. Your dad was smart and funny and "a character." He will be missed by many. May his memory bring you solace and joy.

To all in the Baum family and those others like myself who miss David,
I worked for years with Dave, played softball with him and well started my career as a trial attorney with him close by. Spent many, many hours with him and am struck still by his passing. We have lost a witty, bright and human soul from our presence. Wishing all carry on his blessed memory.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your Dad's lost. Thinking of him puts a smile on my face and brings nicest memories. Though know him for a short time, he brought lots of meaning into my life. Will always have great thoughts about him. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

My heartfelt condolences to the Baum family. We have lost too many former classmates recently, all way too young.

I was stunned to get an email this morning on facebook about David. We had been talking all through the cold snap and were trying to have chicken soup while he went through his tests.I failed to get him to go into the hospital despite an offer of a greek belly dancer.
David took me on a first date in Evanston many moons ago and his father came into the restaurant upon seeing Davids car parked outside. He stayed for the dinner and it was the nicest meal and blind date ever. David has always donated to Misericordia and many causes and cared for everyone he met.
Ive spent many a late hour talking about the kids and their accomplishments and his love for them. I can not believe he is gone.
This is a rather unorthodox posting for a most unconventional witty brash and amazing person. My condolences to the entire family.

David was a very caring, sweet mensch, who charmed through his honest, unfiltered appraisals of life around him. I'll miss the guy. My heart goes out to his family.

We cannot help but smile when we think of Dave- Sue's almost brother. We will miss him. Whenever we talked to him we knew we were getting pure Dave. We always admired him because he was able to put himself out there in every interaction and not be phony. Our hearts go out to the Baum family.

I will miss David. He always fought for the underdog and called it as only he could see it. His sense of humor though deprecating was on target with some zinger thrown out at those near him.
