Allen Jay Schaeffer, age 65, respected attorney; beloved husband and best friend for 41 years of Barbara, nee Smoller; loving father of Alexis (David) Jarrett and Josh (Jennifer); adored "Boompa" of Zach, Anna and Avi; cherished brother of Jennifer (Ben) Dolin and the late Stuart; dear brother-in-law of Jerry (Mary) and Bob (Judy) Smoller; treasured uncle, great-uncle and friend. Allen was exceptional. Service Wednesday, 12 Noon, at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 blk N. of Lake Cook Rd.). Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Allen was a great guy and I miss him. We had some wonderful conversations and even better laughs. I will remember him always.

Barbara, Barry and I were so very sad to hear of Allen's passing. We are living in Sarasota Florida now, but will always remember the good times we all had when the kids were small and we were all so young! He was truly a wonderful man. We will always remember him with much love.

Allen was an inspiration. He inspired us to see the bright side of life. We loved the time that we spent with him.

Barb and Family - We will all miss Allen's positive outlook on life, his sense of humor and love he showed all the time. Barb, Josh, Alexis- I admired your Husband/Father a lot- his amazing attitude throughout all his ordeals was awe inspiring. You were all his strengths and pride. Through you and his grandchildren- he lives on. I will miss our annual agony sessions- I will miss him.
