Michael S. Sidell, MD, age 71 of Mundelein, IL, formerly of Galesburg, IL and Charlotte, NC. Beloved husband and best friend of Judy, nee Dorfman, for 45 wonderful years; loving father of Kevin (Jennifer) Sidell and Jaime (Joshua) Herbst; cherished grandfather of Noah, Elijah, and Tahlia; dear brother of Marsha (Robert) Sheinin; treasured brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many. Michael passed away on May 19 after a gallant battle with a progressive neurological disease. He was born in Chicago, IL, son of late Jerome and Sylvia Sidell. Michael earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1967. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Rush University Medical in 1974. Michael proudly served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force in the Panama Canal Zone. He was the Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was also a lecturer and clinical instructor at Rush University Medical, Carl Sandburg Radiologic Technology Program, and Central Piedmont Community College. His professional memberships included the American Medical Association, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiologic Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the American College of Nuclear Physicians, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine. Michael was a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and a life trustee of the Cottage Healthcare Systems. He was also the past President of the Knox County Medical Society. Michael was a compassionate and gifted physician and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved Big Ten Sports, Nascar, music, and green grass and trees.
