William J. Hauck, age 81, passed on October 18, 2013 at the Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, Illinois after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene, and his beloved daughter, Elizabeth San Juan of Oswego, Illinois, his grandchildren, Cristian age 17, and twin girls Amanda and Rebeca. age 15, and by 14 cousins, all first born in the United States and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and William Hauck and an infant sister, Margaret, as well as his cousin, Greg Anstett. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served as a gunner on a B-29 during the Korean conflict, and was stationed in Japan. While there he learned to play golf on their beautifully hand manicured courses. Golf became the love of his life. He received a honorable discharge in 1955. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He went to Northern Illinois University and graduated in 1961. He celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary this year on October 12. His main employment was 26 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation. In 1973 he was elected as the Addison Township Clerk on the Democratic ticket. The whole slate was elected and this was the first in history that democrats were elected in DuPage County. Upon moving to our summer place in Fox Lake he served as a Director of the Fox Waterway Agency for 8 years. He also enjoyed fishing and wanted to say that he "hooked" some fish and "hooked" some drives. He will be sorely missed.

*** Well wait till you hear about this one!*** < You may want to look back at what I wrote on November 18th, 2013 B4 reading on. > Before Willie passed away he also gave me 2 golf clubs, a 9 wood and a 3 wood. In honor of this man I passed on the 3 wood he gave me to my son Jack to carry on Willie's legacy. Jack said he will never loose this club and tells me stories on occasion about times when he hits it well with Willie's old club. Well folks, on October 17th of this year I got my second 'Hole in One' on the SAME HOLE as I did on October 5th in 2013!!! Wanna guess what club I was using? The 9 wood from 145 yards out with 5 people watching. This time it was Willie and my Dad with me on the tee. I'm crying my eyes out right now. GOD BLESS WILLIE, MY DAD, AND ALL OF YOU.....

Dear Hauck Family and all others he loved. 13 days before Willie's passing--I got my first 'Hole in One'. I truly think the timing of this was a gift from God. You see; Willie taught me the game of golf and now I was able to share this moment with him. As we spoke, I felt as if he had been there with me when it happened. He taught me even more about life and happiness. The Duffy Family will never forget about Willie and what a wonderful, funny, cunning and loving person he was. And yes, he gave my Mom ex-lax as a kid and told her it was chocolate! He also just made you laugh again..

Those of us on Forest View in Wood Dale have always been grateful for Bill's work on getting the berm flood levee completed. He took the reins and got it done, with much resistance, he never quit. Every time it rains heavily, and that berm holds the water back, we think of Bill. In fact, we refer to it as Hauck's berm. We want his family to know he is remembered here. He was a natural leader. And, he made a difference. May he rest in heaven.

Bill,
You were a great friend and landlord. We always had a ball out on the golf course. I know we both made each other laugh. You are and always will be a classy guy. And a friend! Thanks for being a Veteran!
Rest in Peace pal.
