I just learned of Dr. Goodrich's passing. I had the pleasure of (and sometimes challenge of!) working with him on his manuscript. Oh, the things I learned! Always, I told people, this was a man of great learning, dignity, joy, and humor. The world is diminished by his loss, but it was gladdened by his presence.

My deepest Sympathy to Andrew's family, NO I did not know Andy but My grandmother was Eva Jeanette Goodrich and her father was George Lawrence Goodrich and his father was Lewis Channcy Goodrich and his father was Samuel Goodrich and his father was Enoch Goodrich and his father was Benjamin Goodrich. The reason I know all this as I have the Goodrich in America and has but it ends with my 2nd great grandfather Lewis Channcy Goodrich.

i am saddened to hear of Andy's passing. You have my sincere and deepest sympathy for the loss your family sustains. I was one of the group of Michigan state University graduate students who quickly became friends in the 1960s. I remember Andy with great fondness for his winning smile and the ease with which I and others were welcomed into his widening circle of friends.
May you find solace in the memory of that smile.

Sorry to hear of Andy's death. I played in Andy's Band when he had his family reunion in Chicago, and a few other times and enjoyed his playing and he as a person. He surely will be missed (John 5:28, 29)

I was so very sorry to hear of Andy's passing. I knew Andy many, many years ago when we--a wonderful group of friends--were grad students at Michigan State University. We all had a lot of laughs and many good times...but when the talk turned serious, as it did so often back then, I recall that Andy's was a wise voice and a learned one. And always, I admired his musicianship. What a great loss for your family and for all who knew him. May your memories
bring you comfort.

With deepest condolences,

Lee ("Frankie") Thornton

Although Andy was a few years ahead of me at Manassas the gap was closed when he and I were graduate students at Michigan State University in the 60's. I am most impressed with the contributions Andy made after he returned to our alma mater as band director and he made many more during his career.

I am particularly proud of his helping to launch the career of Dee Dee (Garrett) Bridgewater at MSU who just happens to be the daughter of Matthew Garrett his predecessor at Manassas.
Our prayers and thanks go out to the Goodrich family as Andy has made all of us richer.

The family has my deepest sympathy. Andy and I go way back. He played lead alto in my big band and I played in his band. He left a Rubber plant with me when he moved to Pennsylvania and I looked at the plant when I got the word that he had passed. We talked often and I will surely miss him. There were many times when he would ride down to Memphis with me for the Tenn. State/Jackson State Game. He has now joined that big jazz band in the sky. JAM ALL NIGHT AND DAY MY GOOD BUDDY.
