A. Earle Shultz

icon A. Earle Shultz, born October 14, 1932 in Chicago, died peacefully on December 27, 2012 in Glenview. After graduating from Northwestern University, Earle served in the US Air Force as a Navigator on the B-47 Bomber. His professional career as a stockbroker spanned more than five decades, most recently with Bear Stearns/JP Morgan. A lifelong and active membership in Glenview Community Church played a crucial role in his spiritual pursuit. Equally defining was a passion for books and conversation which fed his need to discover, examine and sift ideas. But above all, his happiest days were spent in the company of his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruth, devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Sherie and Robert Thomas, Jill and Rock Tonkel, precious grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Thomas, Perry, Rocky and Miles Tonkel and his family of treasured friends. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Earle will be held at the Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St., on January 4, 2013 at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests the gifts in honor of Earle's meaningful life be made to Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025.
