Barbara Claire Chadwick Carqueville

Barbara Claire Chadwick Carqueville, passed away peacefully Nov. 2, 2012, five days before her 89th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Sunter Carqueville. Barbara was raised in River Forest by her parents Herbert and Edith (Ohlsen) Chadwick, graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan. Married in 1948, Barb and Frank soon settled in Elmhurst, IL. to raise their five children. Later in life they established residence in Naples, FL. Barbara was an active person in sports, social and charitable activities. She possessed a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. Her favorite activities included golf, bridge, tennis, needlepoint and world travel. But above all, she deeply loved and cherished her five children and their extended families, as well as the many friends she had throughout her life. Barbara is survived by her loving family Nancy (Bill) Stanton, Joan, Robert, Donald (Teresa) and Catherine (Dave) Shifflet; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in her passing by her brothers William (Janet) and Robert (Loie) Chadwick. Though she will be deeply missed, she truly left a positive influence on those she touched in life. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
