Bert Oliver Sullivan, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Winnetka, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Bert was born in Peoria and spent his youth in Kenilworth. Devoted husband of Patricia and loving father of Gail (Steve) Burke, Amy (Mike) Rogers, Bert (Karen) Sullivan and Brian (Amy) Sullivan. Bert was the proud grandfather of Kelly, Becky, Julie, Jenny, Chip, Jamie, Peter, Casey, Jack, Kiley and Sam as well as six adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lewis G. (Nancy) Sullivan of Winnetka. A proud WWII
veteran of the US Navy/Pacific Theater, he served as a boatswain's mate driving LCM during the invasion of Okinawa. He then graduated from Northwestern University
. Bert co-owned Mid-City Lithographers with his brother Lew. He was a gifted woodworker who created beautiful furniture and he was active in the community. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Winnetka Congregational Church,725 Pine St., Winnetka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter or the Salvation Army.
