icon David Bruce, 87, of Northfield, died peacefully on March 30, 2013. David was born in Syracuse, New York in 1925. He later moved to Winnetka. He graduated from New Trier High School in 1943. After high school, David was drafted into the Army Air Corps. His tour of duty included flying the Burma Hump in India. He received the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for having flown over one hundred fifty missions. After finishing his tour of duty, David completed his studies at Northwestern University. David is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; and his daughters, Bonnie Bernard (Tim), Lane Hop (Karl), and Whitney; as well as his grandchildren, Jordan and Danny Watt and Brook and Lindsay Toland. He served as an usher and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston. David was a man of integrity and faith. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston on Friday, April 12th at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deacon Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, 1427 Chicago Ave., Evanston, IL 60201.
