Donald Nelson

iconDonald Arthur Nelson, 83, of Clarendon Hills, IL., passed peacefully at home with his family beside him after a long illness on December 21, 2012. He was born to parents Arthur and Ruth (Anderson) on February 26th, 1929 in Chicago, IL. Donald is survived by his wife Terry (Stevens) of 60 years, daughter Cynthia (Mark) Bretscher, son Thomas (Bonnie), son Gregory (LouAnn), three grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother and lifelong business partner, Gordon (Marion) Nelson, neices Jane and Susan, and many extended family members. Donald was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and the University of Chicago. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Don was an accomplished pianist and loved to attend the Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera. He also enjoyed playing tennis and sailing. Donald's most treasured days were spent at the family home in Saugatuck, MI., surrounded by family and friends. A family memorial will be held sometime in the spring.
