ELEANOR LIEBERMAN Obituary

Eleanor Gray Lieberman, 90, passed peacefully from this earth, surrounded by her loving family in Evanston, Illinois on December 6, 2012. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 7, 2013 in Elliott Chapel at Westminster Place, 3131 Simpson Street (aka, Golf Road) in Evanston. Cherished wife of the late Saul Lieberman; beloved mother of Laura (LeRoy) Klemt, Claire (Thomas) Goulding and the late Nancy Lieberman; adoring grandmother of Susan Klemt, Jonathan Klemt, Alison (Tony Mustoe) Goulding and Laura (Dirk) Tenzer; devoted great-grandmother of Jack, Drew and Nate; daughter of the late Pearl (nee Weinhouse) and Edward Gray; caring sister of Robert Gray, the late Walter (Aline nee Koplin) Gray, the late Janice (the late Melvin) Ury, Richard (Mary nee Lackritz) Gray, the late Laurence (Rosemary nee Blaeser) Gray, and Melvin (Sue nee Fox) Gray; much loved aunt of 18 and great aunt of dozens of nieces and nephews; beloved friend to many fine people from every walk of life. Eleanor was born March 28, 1922 in St. Louis, raised in Chicago, and lived broadly in the world through travel, ideas, and the common bonds of humanity. Eleanor was president of the French club and her senior class at Starrett School for Girls. She studied creative writing at Purdue University before marrying the love of her life at age 19. She had a poetic sensibility and a keen eye for excellent design, architecture and all the fine arts. An uncommonly compassionate human being, Eleanor made the world a better place in her own inimitable style. Dear Claire and Laura,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. So many fond memories of all of us having fun years ago. This community was a mecca for strong relationships and I am so happy we were able to share so many with you and your Mom and Dad. That is what friends are all about.
