photo Eleanore Jane Chambers, 92, longtime resident of Northbrook, died peacefully May 1, 2013. Eleanore lived in Glenbrook Countryside and was a member of St. Giles Episcopal Church since 1953. She taught at Greenbrier Elementary School until 1985. During retirement she enjoyed many activities, including traveling, playing bridge, Bible studies and book clubs. Eleanore also volunteered at the Art Institute, the Northbrook Historical Society and the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Eleanore, Ellie or Giggs as she was known to friends and family is survived by her children, Betsy (the late Art) Stratemeyer, Mary Chambers, Greg (Sue) and Steve Chambers; grandchildren, Stephanie and Meredith Chambers, Christopher (Karoline) and Michael Henley, Peter Trotochaud and Kody Chambers; great-grandson, Austin Archer; niece, Patricia Nelson; nephew, Charles (Linda) Baggarly; and cousins, Jeff (Sue) and their daughter Christine, Bill (Lisa) and their daughters Anna and Sarah Wahlgren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Victor Thomas Chambers and her parents, Dorthea Rasmussen and Hugh Robertson. A visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 2013 from 6-8 pm at St. Giles Episcopal Church, 3025 Walters Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062 where a funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Giles Church, or to the American Breast Cancer Association, 1220 B E.
