Mr. Howard E. Holmquist "Howie" passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Howard was born in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Emil C. and Anna G. Holmquist. He earned a BS in Chemistry in 1947 from Northwestern University and a Ph.D at the University of Minnesota in Organic Chemistry in 1951. Howard relocated to Delaware in 1951 to join the DuPont Company and had a very successful career where he worked in Research and Development for 37 years. Howard had a great love for music from classical to jazz. Among his friends and colleagues Howard was known and admired for his encyclopedic memory on a wide range of subjects including history, music and sports. He travelled extensively and compiled a large collection of hotel stickers from around the world. Howie will be dearly missed by all his friends. At his request, Howard was buried in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago nearby the graves of his beloved parents.
