Died on February 27, 2013. Survived by wife, Janeanne (Nan) nee O'Brien, eight children, fourteen grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Jim graduated from Mount Carmel High School, The University of Notre Dame
and Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine. While an undergraduate at Notre Dame he served in the US Navy. After medical school, he completed his medicine residency at Milwaukee County Hospital and then served as a major in the US Air Force. Jim's distinguished medical career included a lifelong affiliation with Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC). It also included Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Cook County Hospital and the University of Chicago Hospital and Clinics. He served as Chief of Staff at LUMC from 1970 to 1978. He also joined the faculty at Stritch in 1970 and continued to serve the school throughout his career. In retirement he began a second career as an author, writing a novella ("The Ferry to America"), a novel ("Rain in the Afternoon") and a book of poetry ("Parts Left Over"). The funeral mass will be private. In lieu of a visitation please join Jim's family for a celebration of his life at the Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst, IL, on Saturday, March 2, from 1 -4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in honor of Dr. James Cassidy be sent to Loyola University Medical Center Outpatient Dialysis Program.
