James Kelly

photoA celebration of life for James Kevin Kelly, 66, will begin with family and friends gathering at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20 at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9600 S. Millard, Evergreen Park, followed by Mass at noon. James, known to family and friends as both Jim and Kevin, was born in Evergreen Park and lived there most of his life. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in an engineering unit of the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and spent his career in accounting, both public and private. James is survived by his loving wife Terry; daughter Noreen Teresa; brothers Thomas (Jasna), Michael (Laura) and Dennis (Jamie); sister Karen Vaid (Tom Prusha); Terry's sons John and Efran; his nieces and nephews Gail, Sean, Michelle (Daithi Robb), Christine (Joe Elsey), Michael, Katie, Colleen, James (Ana), Thomas, Michael, and Daniel Kelly, Tom Vaid, and Noreen Keeney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Noreen (O'Neill) Kelly, sister-in-law Lynelle (Swintek) Kelly, and favorite brother-in-law Thomas Vaid. James was loved by all who knew him. He had many friends and will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, gentle soul, and his love and kindness for all. He always considered himself blessed and was strong in his faith. Mostly, he enjoyed life with his wonderful wife and beautiful daughter, lunches with his daughter and brothers, talking to his sister, and having a beer with friends. His incredible spirit and loving smile will be missed.
