Julianna Burton

Julianna G. Burton, 81, of Villa Park, IL passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. She is survived by her brother, LeRoy (Eleanor) Burton, Sr; her nephew, LeRoy, Jr. and his fiancé Mercy Roberson. Julianna graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Journalism. She was very active in the Chicago Campus Drama Group of Northwestern University and appeared in several plays: "Checkerboard '59," "Out of This World," "Anything Goes," and "Pajama Game." Julianna belonged to Phi Gamma Nu sorority and was elected "Snow Queen 1959," and "Queen of Spring 1960." Julianna volunteered for many causes; the most notable was her work for the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. She organized fund raising dinners and wrote speeches for many local and national politicians. Julianna was invited to attend Mr. Marshall Fields, IV, wedding. Upon graduation she worked for various companies in public relations and some modeling, and then joined the Chicago Tribune newspaper in creative services and wrote the "Chi-Lites" and "Julianna Burton Dines Out" columns. When she left the Chicago Tribune she used her entrepreneurial skills and bought and operated the "Ohio House Coffee Shop." Julianna was an avid skier and went to Aspen, Colorado quite often. She loved to travel and had visited Europe many times, the Bahamas, India, and Mexico. She was loved by everyone and would help those in need. Her smile would light up a room when she walked in. She loved children and animals. We will miss you, Julianna, Godspeed. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Lane Funeral Chapel, 6305 W.
