Louise Pettit More, 90, died February 7 at her home in Wilmette, Ill. surrounded by her family. She was born in Ottawa, Ill. to Dr. Roswell T. and Dorothy Blatchford Pettit. She was married to the late James Kent More. She held degrees from Northwestern University
, where she was a Zeta Phi Eta, and Northern Illinois University. She worked with young adults with learning disabilities, ending her career as a Special Education teacher at New Trier High School. She loved theater. Prior to teaching she was an actor and an early Chicago television pioneer appearing as the Blue Fairy and a puppeteer on WTTW's "Totem Club." Louise is survived by children, Greg More of Madison, N.J. and Dorothy Handley-More and son-in-law Mark Handley of Seattle, Wa., and adored granddaughter Irene Handley. In lieu of flowers, please make a "gift in memory of Louise More" to The Newberry Library, 60 West Walton St., Chicago, IL 60610. Louise was the great-granddaughter of E.W. Blatchford, "The Second Father of the Newberry." A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at the First Congregational Church of Evanston, 1445 Hinman Ave. (at Grove).
