Michael R. Pikowski 41, of Oak Park died tragically on January 30, 2013. Loving husband to Jennifer (Nee Puhy). Devoted father to Anthony, Celia, and Samuel. Michael was born on October 21, 1971 to the late Ronald and the late Catherine (Nee Manzella) Pikowski. Michael's paternal grandmother, the late Celia, was like a second mother to Michael. Michael had an extended family of over 100 aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and many friends. As a child, Michael participated in competitive sports in baseball and swimming. He forged friendships that carried into adulthood. He graduated from St. Lawrence High School in Chicago. He attended University of Illinios in Chicago, New York University
and was largely self taught. After a career in the financial brokerage industry, Michael chose to be the main care provider for his growing family, spending several years at home with his young children. Michael then launched his own bookkeeping business, and for over ten years served his clients with integrity and personal dedication. Many of them consider him a friend. Michael was significantly involved in his local community, working with and often volunteering his time and talents across a broad spectrum of organizations, including the Oak Park Art League, Oak Park Youth Baseball and Softball, and his children's Parent Teacher Organization. The significance of his personal achievements goes beyond the basic facts, as it lies mainly in his special abilities in working with people. He was a man of warmth, passion and extraordinary generosity, and acceptance of all, sprinkled with a good sense of humor and playfulness. Although Michael battled depression most of his life, all those he came in contact with felt loved and cared for, accepted and supported.
