Norma Catrambone(1921 - 2014)

photoJuly 26, 1921 - February 24, 2014 Norma was born at home in Oak Park to Frank and Mary Jordan. Norma was a wife, mother, philanthropist, and gardener who enjoyed life with her husband, family, and friends. She was an active volunteer throughout her life with Infant Welfare, Oak Park Hospital, and PEO, and was a genuinely kind woman and a wonderful listener. She was preceded in death by her three older brothers, her son-in-law Rick Nelson, her stepson Ken Catrambone, and her loving husband, Dom, who passed away less than one year ago. She had a large extended family during her forty-year marriage to Dom. She had two daughters from a previous marriage to W. Homer Benson, Joel (Fran O'Brien) Nelson, and Carol (Steve Vorhaus) Puchalski. Dominic (Genny) Catrambone, Jr., Janet (Steve) Kane, and Frank (Sue) Catrambone joined her combined family in 1973. She had thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Norma attended Oak Park River Forest High School and Northwestern University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Norma and Dom were avid golfers and members of Oak Park Country Club. She started golfing at 50 and continued playing until 85 yrs. old. A celebration of her life is scheduled on March 29th at Cumberland Funeral Chapels, 8300 West Lawrence, Norridge, Illinois 60706. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm followed by a brief service.
