John J. and Gerald S. (the late Mary); survived by his loving sisters and brother, Jane A. (the late Angelo)

Cantieri, Sr. Catherine Ahern, O.P. "Adrian" and Eugene Ahern (Roseanne); and many nieces and nephews. Served with honor as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. Attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein. Earned advanced degrees including a Doctorate in Education from Loyola University of Chicago. Career of almost 40 years with the Chicago Public School system including teacher at Robert Healy School, District Superintendent and co-director of the High School Renaissance program. Visitation Monday 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday 9:45 from Kenny Brothers, 3600 W. 95th Street to Most Holy Redeemer Church (Evergreen Park). Mass 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
