RICHARD M. MORROW

photo Richard M. Morrow, 86, longtime resident of Glenview, passed away on January 21, 2013. Mr. Morrow was CEO of Amoco Corporation from 1983 until his retirement in 1991. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia; Mr. Morrow served in the US Navy and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in petroleum engineering. He began his 43 year career with a predecessor of Amoco Corp. in the oil fields around Houston. Although he had a remarkable corporate career, he will most be remembered by his tireless dedication to non-profit organizations in the Chicago area, especially those with regard to education. He was a life trustee of the University of Chicago and Rush Medical Center. He held leadership positions for the Commercial Club of Chicago, Civic Committee of Chicago, Teacher's Academy for Mathematics and Science, National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering and National Academy of Engineering. He received the Abraham Lincoln Centre's Humanitarian Service Award in 1992. Services have been held. Arr. by N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, Glenview. Info 847-998-1020.
