Robert Murry

iconRobert William Murry, age 86, died February 1, 2013 in Hoffman Estates, IL at the St. Alexius Medical Center. Born in Oak Park, IL on June 6, 1926, he was an expert rifleman in the 110th Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division and received the Bronze Star Medal. Murry earned a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 1958 he and partner Tom Moody founded Murry and Moody Civil Engineering, Surveying, and Consulting, which they operated until 1991. A resident of Hampshire, IL, he delighted in his family, friends, dogs, and farm. Robert Murry is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy (nee Mikes), his loving daughters Elizabeth Murry of Cohasset, MA and Barbara Murry of Hoffman Estates, IL, his grandson Robert Lawrence Murry McDonald and granddaughters Abigael Rose Murry McDonald and Caroline Murry McDonald. He is preceded in death by his mother Elise Murry (nee Bleile), his father Harry W. Murry, and his brother William H. Murry. Visitation and wake on Wednesday, February 6 from 3 PM to 9 PM at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services in Palatine, IL, where his funeral will be held beginning at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 7. Interment immediately following at the Doty Cemetery in Hampshire with full military honors. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of his love of the outdoors, the family requests that memorial contributions be given in his name to the National Audubon Society.
