THOMAS P. SAWYER

Thomas P. Sawyer, 90, passed away in Rancho Mirage, CA on June 24, 2012. He was born in Merion, PA, attended Lower Merion H.S and graduated from Amherst College in 1943. He then joined the Navy and served as an officer on a PT boat in the South Pacific for 2 1/2 years. After the service, he married Nancy McCarey. They had three children, Thomas Power Jr., Jeffrey Walter, and Cindy Lou. Mr. Sawyer went to work at Armstrong Brothers Tool Co. and came to Chicago in 1959 as Vice President in charge of Sales, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. He lived in Winnetka until the death of his wife and was a member of Skokie Country Club. In 1993, he married the former Diane Jonas Zweifel and they resided in Northfield. He was a member of Sunset Ridge C.C. as well as Eldorado C.C. in Indian Wells, CA. He is survived by his sons, Tom (Diane) of Maplewood, MN, Jeff (Susan) of Florham Park, NJ; and daughter Cindy Campbell (Don) of Winnetka; and four grandchildren, Austin Campbell and Cody E. Campbell, Michael Sawyer (Frances) and Melanie Sawyer; as well as four step-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date at St. James the Less in Northfield.
