Dr. William Young, aged 91, died on January 8, 2014. He was born in Chicago on July 12,1922. Bill was an Army
Veteran of WWII
having served with distinction on the Pacific Theatre. A graduate of Northwestern University
Dr. Young began his career in dentistry in 1953 and continued until age 80, ending his practice in Chicago's Pittsfield Building where his father Dr. Earl Young maintained his dental practice for 50 years. Bill was a life-long flying enthusiast and licensed pilot. He enjoyed jazz, drove fast cars and was an early supporter of The Civil Rights Movement. He was married 5 times. Dr. Young was preceded in death by a sister Vennen Ward. He is survived by his sister Jane Buzan of Peoria, IL, his wife Sibylle Mittelsdorf of Evanston, IL, his 6 children from his first marriage, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His children wish to thank the wonderful and tolerant staff at The North Shore Hotel where he lived for 8 1/2 years, to the CNA's at Concord Place and for the excellent care he received at Mather Pavilion. Special thanks to Penny Livermore, his wife for her devotion to him in his last weeks of life, John Lilisa, his hard-working and kind caregiver and to his very beloved friend Brenda Long.
