Yarmila Nelson(1924 - 2014)

Yarmila "Jerrie" Nelson, 90, of Luther Village in Arlington Heights (formerly Edgebrook), passed away on May 6, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago on April 7, 1924 to the late George and Mary Kovarik. She graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School, attended the Walton School of Business and worked at Landis Tool Company. Jerrie married the late Warner V. Nelson on June 29, 1946. Jerrie was a beloved member of the Edgebrook community and on the original board of the Chicago Boys Club. She was active with the Edgebrook Woman's Club and the Scholarship Committee for Morton High School. Jerrie is survived by her three children; Linda (Roger) DuClos, Nancy (Jack) Sorenson, Warner (Anne) Nelson Jr. Seven grandchildren; Jennifer (Brian) Strombom, Wendy (Mark) Davids, John (Whitney) Sorenson, James Sorenson; Lori (Joshua) Koeppel, Warner Nelson III and Cole Nelson; Three great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Adam Strombom and Henry Sorenson. Jerrie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Warner V. Nelson; brother Joseph (Rose) Kovarik ; sister-in-law Delores (Milton) Christensen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Edgebrook Lutheran Church or a . Visitation will be Friday, May 16 from 3-9 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 Cicero Avenue, Chicago. The funeral will be Saturday, May 17 at 10 AM at Edgebrook Lutheran Church, 5252 West Devon in Chicago. Burial will be at Memorial Park, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie.
