I worked for Mr. Boebel when he was director of the Chicago Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers. What a mountain of a man he was!

Kathy, Chris, Barby, Your parents were great friends when the lived here in Chicago, also great mentors for Harold and myself. They'll never be forgotten by my family. We often exchanged letters around Christmas time to bring each other up to date, but I lost communication when they moved from Tennessee.. They'll live on in the hearts of many people. Love, June Smith

As a neighbor of the Boebel family on 78th Street, I have such great memories. During a solar eclipse in 1970, Mr. Boebel showed me how to use a cardboard box and aluminum foil to safely witness such a rare event.
My Mother and I will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

As a neighbor on 78th Street, I have great memories of Mr. & Mrs. Boebel. My Mother just informed me of this news and our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.
I think of Mr. Boebel each time there is a solar eclipse as he showed me how to use a cardboard box with foil to safely watch the eclipse as it occurred back in 1970.
May peace be with you all.
Sincerely,
Gertrude Dahl and Rhonda Dahl Lukas

My heartfelt condolences to the Boebel family on your loss. Clarence was a unique man whose idealism and intelligence made Chicago a better place. I appreciated his friendship and encouragement. We have fond memories visiting Phyllis and Clarence in Nashville. Our prayers will be with you.
