We are sorry that we were not in town to see the family during this time. Paul will be remembered as a dear friend with a great heart, wonderful sense of humor and dedicated father and husband. We spent many dinners, golf games and other activities with Paul, Ellen and family and our prayers and thoughts are with all of you. With love, Jill and Keith Swenson

A more gracious, honorable and talented human being would be hard to find.
He was my outstanding fraternity brother at Loyola University and a very significant influence on me. His profound dedication and cordial demeanor were two of his many marks of excellence. As a loyal husband, a devoted father, a skilled attorney, and a very giving member to community, volunteer and humane organizations, Paul had few peers. Any person who met Paul will admit to being fortunate and yes- blessed, by the encounter, however brief. May You Rest in Peace.

My condolences to the Gerding Family on the loss of a truly great man. When I was growing up, Mr. and Mrs. Gerding would come over to dinner parties hosted by my mother and father, Linda and Ken Pittner, and he would always have a kind word for us children. He and my parents' friends never condescended to us (like adults understandably do sometimes when talking to small children); instead he always made us feel a bit older, a bit taller, and a bit more mature when he shared his stories or conversations with us. He had a wonderful wit and sense of humor, and our family was enriched by his presence in our lives. His reverie will be welcome in God's Kingdom. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.*
