Robert Kalnitz Obituary
Robert B. Kalnitz, beloved husband of Shirlie nee Stein for 68 years. Loving father of Joanne (Marshall Sorkin) Kalnitz and Leah (William) Yarrow. Adored grandfather of Ben (Allison) Yarrow, Aliza Yarrow, Nathan Yarrow and Jeremy Sorkin. Dear brother of Arnold (the late Dianne) Kalnitz and the late George (the late Ruth) Kalnitz. Proudly served as an Air Force pilot during WWII. Services Thursday, 1:00 pm at Chicago Jewish Funerals Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road (One block north of Lake Cook Road) Buffalo Grove. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Buffalo Grove Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com.

Dear Shirlie, Joanne, Marshall, Leah, Bill, Arnold, Cousin Sandy and the entire Kalnitz Family,
Our heartfelt condolences to you in the loss of "Uncle Bob". During my last visit with my Uncle George, I took him to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, AZ. As we entered a large hangar, George immediately recognized across the room a B-17G and proudly told me about his older brother Bob being a pilot of that type of bomber during WWII over Europe. Although George's mind was going, he could recall in detail the specifics of the B-17, and the P-22 we also saw that morning which he flew during his pilot training in Oklahoma, hoping to follow in his older brother's footsteps, during the war. I can still picture Bob sitting in Union Pier, Michigan, tapping his pipe, as he talked.
