Margaret Gallas

Margaret "Miss Midge" Gallas, nee Gross, age 71, passed peacefully while sleeping Nov. 2. Loving daughter of the late Evelyn and Albert Gross is loved and remembered by her children Gina Morello, Brandon (Emily) Gallas and Gabby (Brian) Gallagher; grandchildren Sam, Shannon, Pat, Max, Orry, Jake, Nick and Everett; siblings Carl Gross, Beth Lange and Greg Gross, and many nieces and nephews. Midge was a long time resident of LaGrange, Alumnus of St. Francis Xavier (1995), Nazareth Academy (1959), and Barat College (1963). She loved traveling, music, eating out, reading and theater. She enjoyed many roles on various stages in her life, but her greatest role was as a single mother providing a loving, nurturing and enriching home for her three children. She mirrored the role with passion as "Miss Midge" for the hundreds of children whose lives she touched in her 37 years of teaching at Creative World Montessori School. We will miss her, her songs, her puppet shows, her smile. Midge will be remembered at Hallowell & James Funeral Home , 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside on Thursday Nov. 8 from 2 to 8 p.m. Mass in Midge's memory will be said at St. Cletus Church on Friday Nov. 9th at 10am.
