THEODORE ZAGGY

Theodore "Ted" Zaggy, 89, of Western Springs, IL passed away Oct. 8, 2012 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian; his son, Dr. Alan (Maryann); daughter, Andrea (Craig) Abbott, daughter, Kyla; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Aaron, Matthew and Anamaria Zaggy, Douglas and Michael Abbott, Mylo Zaggy; and many nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Zaggy of Youngstown, OH; brother, George (Julie) Zaggy of Youngstown, OH and brother, Walter (Mildred) Zaggy of Saginaw, MI. Ted was born and raised in Youngstown, OH, joined the Navy in 1943, was commissioned and graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1945. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict before transitioning to the Naval Reserve until his retirement. Ted and Lillian were married in Joliet, IL in 1950. They shared a fulfilling life together, settling first in Hillside, IL and later in Western Springs. Ted served on the Hillside Board of Trustees, the Kiwanis Club of Hillside and as President of the Village Club of Western Springs, where he enjoyed many years of service on the board, bowling, golf, on the dance floor and on the stage. Ted was the owner/CEO of Astro Water Engineers. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, IL 60525. Interment private.
