Dr John Kearney was one of the best teachers in our Social Science Department at George Williams College at Downers Grove, IL. He taught me first to think out of the box about Cultural Differences, Cross Cultural Communications and Diversity so much sooner than when I sought my graduate degree in 1996. He was a fair man as an instructor; you could not help to be drawn by his practice wisdom!! I missed his work after O graduated from George Williams College in 1980. I will always remember is famous acronym for researching papers on any topic: P.R.E.F.E.R. (Political, Religion, Economics,Family, Education, Recreation). That will teach one a great deal about a culture and society. We will all miss him. He was fascinating and a treasure!

I had the opportunity to be your student: learn from you and spend time sharing ideas, and you made a difference in my life.

My condolences to John's family. One of my life's regrets is that my relationship with John ended after we left college. He was an unforgettable personality; clever sense of humor and a keen mind.

John -
I "appreciate" you. As your student, eager to learn, you held individual tutoring sessions where you would "appreciate" both me and my grade. All I had to do was explain the answer better then I did on the written test and bam, my grade was "appreciated." In the process, I learned so very much about cross cultural communication, diversity, racism, tolerance, economic justice...You will be missed. Your skills at "appreciating" your students have touched so many in very profound ways.

My father, Nelson Wieters, was also a professor at George Williams College, and I was a student there. John was a favorite of mine; wonderful teacher...engaging, funny, witty, smart. My time with and lessons from him are a wonderful memory. I extend sympathy and prayer for his loved ones.
Peace,
Jane (Wieters) Noles

I offer my sympathy and best wishes to John's family and friends. We were classmates at Saint Mary's. Although we moved in different circles, I remember him clearly almost 60 years later. I hope that his life after Saint Mary's was happy for himself and his loved ones. And I look forward to visiting with him again hereafter. May he continue to live in interesting times, always.
