My deepest condolences to the Bracken family!
I just found out about Mike's passing! Mike was my Automotive Technology instructor at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Illinois in the late 70's. Mike was more than a master mechanic or an excellent shop teacher...he was my friend after high school also. I helped landscape his home in Alsip, Illinois. He taught me to love corvettes, though I never have owned one! I became a mechanic because of Mike's influence on my life.
I would love to come to the Orland Days parade route with my family just to catch a glimpse of Mike driving his beloved Red'59 Vette with the Golden Glass Corvette Club! We kept in touch over the years, He even stopped by my home in Midlothian Illinois with Kyle on one of his Vette road trips from Punta Gorda. When I moved to Florida seven years ago, I drove over 3 hours just to buy a car from him to give to my son. Mike said, "I have such a deal for you!" Mike even stayed with my family a couple years in a row while riding his motorcycle all the way to the Leesburg Bike Fest. He sent me pictures from the Super Bowl when the 49'ers were playing. He was so proud that Mike IV made the team!
If God has a Corvette, I'm sure Mike is trying to tweak it to get
more HP and better MPG! I'll miss you Mr. B!!!

Mike,
We were friends when we were just "kids". You played in the band "The Grimm Reapers in my Dad's basement in the late 1960's. Vince Hlavack played with you and good times were had by all. There were many parties at Riss' Bar and Grill and you were a big part in many of them. You came out to see me in Littleton, Colorado in the early 1980's when I owned the Golden Eagle Saloon in Golden Colorado. It was shortly after that you moved to Florida. I hope in some way I may have inspired you leave the Chicago area and open your own business. Riss' Bar and Grill is now closed for good as my brother Dan has just sold the family home and followed me to live in the wonderful state of Colorado. The last time we saw each other was at DIA when you were in Denver for a layover returning from watching a San Francisco 49ers playoff game. You were SO proud of your son who was able to get you the tickets. We had lunch with a lady friend of yours, laughed about the old times and got caught up on each other's life. I am so happy I got to see you one last time while you were still with us in human form. I just found out about you making your transition today. 8/19/2015. You must have been saying good bye from another dimension and I heard you. Good bye my old friend. We'll see each other again when my time here is over. Keep in touch.
