Marina and I renewed our friendship with Eleanor and Ron during my return to work at Argonne in 2010. Our friendship began when we both were stranded at the Argonne Guest Lodge during a snowstorm and Ron gave me the key to his guest room and slept on a cot in his office. Many subsequent evenings of discussions at the Staff Club followed. We had planned to visit them on our next trip to Florida. Our sincere condolences to the family.

My deepest sympathy to the Martin family on their lost. I was deeply saddened upon hearing about this. Words cannot describe then pain you must be going through. I am so sorry. May you all keep the faith.

Although it has been many years since I last saw Ron, the memory of his generous and lively nature are planted forever in my thoughts. His ideas were interesting and insightful, and his love of life inspiring. I will always remember him as a very special person in an extraordinary world.
Ron Martin's legacy lives with me every day. True genius needs no fanfare, it glows on it's own. Ron's genius reached far beyond the books of knowledge and physics. His star is for humanity.
Rest peacefully Sir, you did good.
