Donald G. Thompson, age 85, of Skokie, formerly of Evanston. Graduate of the University of Chicago; Professor and Former Chairman of the English Dept. at Wilbur Wright College and pioneered the English For Credit program at WTTW Channel 11; Member of the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team of the 1948 London Olympics; 1953 U. S. Épée Champion; Recipient of the University of Chicago Amos Alonzo Stagg Award for Scholar Athletes; Life Member of the Art Institute of Chicago; and longtime subscriber to the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Beloved husband of Marguerite "Peggy," nee Bangert; Dear father of Donald L. and David M. (Virginia) Thompson and John E. (Shannon) Locsin; Loving grandfather of Jordan Locsin, Daniel, Stephen and Andrew Thompson; Beloved son of the late Esther and Donald S. Thompson; Fond cousin of the Frank and Noreen Tobin Family. Memorial Gathering Sunday, March 10th, from 3 to 6 p.m., with Memory Sharing at 4:30 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.
