George Tolbert

George E. Tolbert, 80, at rest on Dec. 26, 2013. George was a long time resident of Hinsdale and Oak Brook. He was a volunteer in his younger days as a Sunday school teacher at Christ Church of Oak Brook, and donated his time helping organize the annual Lane School ice cream fundraising social. In his later years he volunteered to help children read in the Chicago public school district, and was active with Habitat for Humanity. He was a veteran of the Army, before embarking on a successful career as a stock broker. George was a annual member of the Chairman's Council at his firm before retiring in 2002 as a Senior Vice President of UBS. Retirement enabled him to pursue his second passion in life--golf. He was a member of Ruth Lake CC in Hinsdale, and Audubon CC in Naples, FL where he and his wife reside in their winter home. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 59 years. His three children Jan [Michael], Jim [Beth], Jeff [Cindy], nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
