Dear Roy, I was very sad to hear of the loss of your lovely wife Joyce. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please take care of yourself. It has been many years since we have talked, but know you will be in my prayers. I too have lost a husband and a son. But truly God does take care of us. Fondly, Theresa

I worked with Joyce on the board of the United Way of Suburban Chicago. She led by example, taught us the right way to manage a volunteer organization, and was always there when we needed her guidance. I have never forgotten her and I promise that I never will. She was a beautiful, talented, and brilliant woman. I loved having her as a mentor and friend.

In our lifetime we are given many blessings but not all of them are special. But the memories her Uncle Steve and I shared in our lifetime with Joyce were very special and we loved her with all our heart.
I remember her as a child she was blessed with a thirst for knowledge. And her brother would brag to everyone about how smart she was and how hard school was for him. He was so proud of her. And at six,I remember how she would sit at the family dinners and discuss current affairs with us.
She and Roy complemented each other with their love and respect for fifty three years.
God blessed them with four beautiful children. They were very loving and devoted parents and all their children returned their love and grew up walking in their footsteps.
Hungry for all the promises of a life that God could give them. Joyce,Roy and all the family were so proud of the kids. And when the grand children came into their life,Joyce and Roy were two of the proudest grand parents I have ever known. So much love.
She will be sadly missed by all of us who will always remember how she took time to listen to us when we were faced with the trials of life. She truly gave so much to so many.
Joyce, I loved you as an aunt with all my heart and look forward to God's Promise of eternal life.
Love always.

My sincere condolences to the Skoog family. Cheryl/Linda/Brad, you mom was a wonderful person and icon around town.
I didnt really know your mom very well, but had met her over the years as I grew up with Cheryl. I particularly remember her around Oak School activities. She, was a friendly "Oak Mom" we kids will always remember similar to Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Wetmore, et al.
Having been a life-long Hinsdalean, I am also well aware of the contributions she made to the town and the positive impact she had for so many years. And she did all that while raising some great kids who should be especially proud of her and her efforts for the community. Her impact will be felt for years to come, and for that, I, like many others, am grateful.
So during this sad time, I hope you believe that she will live on in your hearts...while always being just a thought away... God bless.

I met Mrs. Skoog once when she was in town visiting her daughter Cheryl and son in law, Peter, and grandson, William. We had a great conversation outside of the home that her daughter was building and I remember it was a beautiful day with a blue sky and how much I enjoyed speaking to Mrs. Skoog. She was animated and energetic and most importantly, so proud of the accomplishments of her daughter Cheryl: her previously career accomplishments, her accomplishments as an entrepreneur home builder and designer, wife of a wonderful and dedicated husband and mother to a very bright and well mannered son, William who I have spent time with and will someday be a great man because of the principles instilled by his parents which, ultimately, we handed down by Mrs. Skoog and Peter's parents. After Cheryl learned of her mothers disease I was not sure what to say or how to comfort her as a friend until she told me one important detail. That her mother attended (or led) a regularly attended bible study. At that instant I knew that Mrs. Skoog would be in good hands because, in part, of the genuine love from those at her church, her pastor and, would be comforted both during her suffering and, ultimately for eternity, by The Greatest Comforter who ever walked this earth, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of God who now sits at the right hand of His Father.
Thank you Mrs. Skoog for giving me the honor of meeting you and learning more about you on that most memorable blue sky day. You life on Earth clearly helped and encouraged so many people and now you get to receive your reward for being such "a good and faithful servant" for eternity.
With sincere condolences to Cheryl, Peter and William, from the Brittis family and neighbors in Bronxville, NY.

Ken and I are so sorry to learn of Joyce's passing. I have happy memories of her at Oak School while I had Cheryl and Brad. Remember how she took a flight late in her pregnancy and hid it in a big coat! She warmly included me in family celebrations.
Ken enjoyed working with Joyce when he was chief and she was on the Village Board.
She was very accomplished. I knew her best through her love and devotion to raising her family.

Joyce loved her family and her community. I think everyone would say they have been made better by knowing Joyce. Her passion for learning and her drive to leave this world a little better than she found it is a good lesson for all of us.She will be missed.

We will never know how many lives are better because of Joyce and her compassionate heart. She wanted to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate; to help them achieve. She worked tirelessly using her talents, time and most of her life toward achievement of that goal. Thank you Joyce. It was our privilege to know you. Bill and Marianne Fox

Joyce was a lovely, lovely lady. I have fond memories of our trip to Savannah and Charleston with the Hinsdale Garden Club. She was a lady of many interests and always willing to be a positive and willing help.

Joyce's enthusiasm for life was boundless. She never did anything half way -- she was determined, committed and had a measurable impact on every organization and person she touched. I will miss her energy.
