Mary Caden

1931 - 2015

Mary Lou Caden, 83, of Hot Springs Village passed away November 21, 2014. She was born July 19, 1931 in Oaklawn, Illinois to John and Marie Studnicka. Mary Lou graduated from Lindblom Technical, Chicago in 1945. She played in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League for the Grand Rapids Chicks, ML Studnicka, from 1951-1953. Mary Lou retired, after 28 years of service, from the Chicago Police Department. She served as a Girl Scouts leader for over 12 years and was a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 10483. A charter member of Community of Joy Lutheran Church, Mary Lou served on the church council and supported a culture of volunteerism and service. For over two decades she volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital, and devoted many years of service to Arkansas Hospice, Village SCAT Transportation and the Boys and Girls Club. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, John, Francis, Carl, George, Robert, Anthony and Thomas; and husband, Paul J. Caden. Loving survivors include her daughters, Pauline Pyzia of Gary, Indiana, Laura Pahr (James May) of Chicago, Illinois and Elizabeth (LTC (R) Joseph) Terry of Hot Springs Village; sister-in-law, Shirley Studnicka; grandchildren, Ginger, Michael, Anthony, Mary, Elizabeth, Daniel and Lauren; and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Community of Joy Lutheran Church, Hot Springs Village, March 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Guests register is www.caruth-hale.com.
