Uncle Sam is my Godfather. One of my favorite stories is when I invited Sam to attend a political science lecture on a Sunday during the Bears game. The speaker was “dry”, and the audience was bored until they realized Sam Sarkesian was in the room. Everyone hovered around my uncle during the breaks. Uncle Sam was gracious and excused himself to check the Bears’ score.

Love,
Carol

Dear Sarkesian Family,

I was sorry to learn of Mr. Sarkesian's passing; my sincere condolences to all.

It has been years since we all lived in the St. Gregory neighborhood, but I do remember Mr. Sarkesian as a kind, professional, and honorable father, soldier, and teacher who was respected by so many.

May you be blessed with beautiful memories of this very accomplished man, and be comforted by God's peace in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

I can still hear the sound of the typewriter as Mr. Sarkesian wrote from his second story space in your house on Hermitage Avenue. I will also never forget the way he lovingly called Joye "Daughter." Mr. Sarkesian lived a long, fruitful, accomplished life. I remember him as a gentleman. My thoughts are with you all as you
mourn the loss of your husband and father

Dear Sarkesian and Conner Family:

I am sad to learn of Sam's death. He was a great man who gave so much to so many people for over 8 decades.

It was one the major highlights of my life to have known him at all and a great honor and privilege for me to serve in the same Army.

The legacy of his work and the memories he leaves as wonderful man will long outlast his body.

You have my deepest sympathy.
