I am so sorry to hear that he passed away. He was an amazing friend to my mom, Jackie Anderson. He completed 100 mile bike ride to raise funds and awareness for the American lung association. She had lung cancer and never smoked. She died at 55 in 2008. I am so sad that he passed away. I was going to look them up and shoot him an email. I´m so sorry he was a great man

I've known Tom since our College years in the 70's. I just tried to call him to help me with a project and found his phone was disconnected so I did a search and found this. How sad, I will miss him.

I knew Tom for only a short time at Harry Weese and Associates. I remember him as being a quiet, soft spoken man with a big smile. I am glad to see that he had a large family of children and grandchildren. Rest Quietly Tom!

I knew Tom during my brief stint at HWA. Great guy. Wonderful sense of humor. Quick wit. Those are the things that stand out in my mind. I have great memories going fishing with him and sharing some fun times along with some hilarious moments out on the water. I remember him being full of life. Sad that he is gone. But remembering him brings a smile to my face.

We were startled to hear condolences to the family of Tom Kapusta announced during the Blackhawks game tonight. We were neighbors on Grove Avenue in Oak Park for many years. When Bill decided to build an outbuilding for our camp in Michigan, Tom was good enough to talk him through his plans and then later offered wonderful advice on various remodeling projects of our Oak Park home. He was kind, soft-spoken, and a good person. Our deepest sympathy.

Tom was a mentor to me when I finished my undergraduate architecture studies and I came to work for TKA for a year back in 1999. Strangely I had been out of touch with him for many years and just this week was thinking about him randomly and decided to reach out to reconnect. I was really sad to find this before I could let him know how well things were going and how much I appreciated everything he had done for me. My condolences to his family.

And further, I just noticed. I am not merely Thomas Kapusta, but I am Thomas J. Kapusta.
Even more ironic. Well, I will keep our good name going hopefully for a long time and keep my kindred fellow spirit alive and well in name. Rest in peace, Tom.

I was saddened to hear of my own "death" as I am Thomas Kapusta, age 58. When I lived in Park Ridge and Naperville, I would sometimes get phone calls and mail meant for Tom. I never met him but certainly feel a kinship having the same name and being the same age. May he rest in peace. My condolences to the family.

Tom was an illustrious graduate of East Leyden High School. He was elected to their Alumni Wall of Fame, a program I was in charge of there. He stood out as a warm, generous, friendly, and humble person. He would come back to the ceremony each year and be an inspiration to the students and faculty. As fellow Oak Parkers we had lunch a couple of times and always tried to set up another with a mutual friend, but schedules got in the way. I am so sorry that I didn't find more time to get to know this exceptionally fine man better. We didn't even know he was ill. He spoke so very highly of his wife and sons. My heart goes out to them. I'm grateful to have known him and am so saddened to hear of his death. So many lives and causes were bettered because of his talents and his passion for his work. I am stunned and so sad. So sad to hear this news. I grew up hanging out at the Kapusta's – swimming in the backyard with Carol Ann, bugging Beth as she got ready for work or school, and watching Tommy practice gymnastics in the garage. I can still hear Carol Ann narrating the various elements of his rings routine, esp the most difficult ones. His dedication to his athletics and the pursuit of architecture inspired us, even at our young age. And he was one of the few big brothers in the 'hood who didn't pick on all the annoying little sisters running around ... Mrs. K, Beth and Carol Ann, so sorry for your loss. He was a special one!

Like many others I worked with Tom at HWA. We sat next to each other back when Tom was working on Printers Row for Harry. We had many good conversations and laughs. Tom had some great stories about the renovation work on that building. My condolence to his family.

Tom and I broke in together as "rookies" at HWA in the 70's and worked on several projects together...and we had a blast! Although our time together was only two years (before I moved to Colorado), I look back on those times as if he had been a friend for life. His passing is a loss to all of us, because in the end a true friend is worth more than anything else in the world. Rest in peace, my friend! Peace.

April 8, 2013

Tom was wonderful. What a loss for all of us. We can all take comfort in his capacity to love and care for his family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are for his family today. Thank God Lori came into his life, she was his rock.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Tommy Kapusta. He was a wonderful collegue during his time at the Harry Weese office. Fond memories of working together and playing softball after work. That was a special time for all who were fortunate to have been there. I am happy to see that Tom has such an extended family - wife children and grand children. I'm sure Harry would smile and I am too. Love you all.
