Ann Louise VORHIES

Ann (Anna) Louise Vorhies, nee Hrycenko, of Western Springs, Illinois and formerly of Sheffield Lake, Ohio passed away at 92 years of age on January 27, 2013. She was born on June 22, 1920 to Mary Szczerba and Constantine Hrycenko in Cleveland, Ohio. Ann was a graduate of West Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a homemaker and loved her family, gardening, painting and reading. She was an extremely intelligent, creative, spirited, strong, determined woman ahead of her time. She maintained the rhythm of life beyond all predictions. Ann is survived by her daughter Diane Vorhies Fitzpatrick, son-in-law Robert J. Fitzpatrick, and grandchildren, Dara Vorhies Fitzpatrick (Western Springs, Illinois), Christopher Vorhies (Brooklyn, New York), and Anthony Vorhies (Long Island City, New York). She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Ralph Ellsworth Vorhies, sons Allen Keith Vorhies, Roger Ellsworth Vorhies, and Darryl Keith Vorhies. A special thanks to Ann's caregivers, Lori Barclay, Theresa Dear, Zerlean Carter, and the team at Adventist St. Thomas Hospice all of which treated her with love and dignity. Memorial services with a celebration of her life for her friends and family will be held on June 22, 2013 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
