ARLENE BRANDEIS Memoriam

In Loving Memory Arlene Baylen Brandeis, June 1, 1939 to November 29, 2009. Survived and dearly missed, by Buzz Brandeis; daughters, Gayle and Elizabeth; sons-in-law, Michael and Craig, and grandchildren, Arin, Hannah, Mollie and Asher. Arlene is remembered for her creativity and passion for art and opera. She enjoyed many years as a museum docent and acted as a supernumerary at Lyric Opera in Chicago. She was known for her independent spirit and her commitment to social change and justice. Arlene was born and raised in Chicago and lived in the Chicago area until 2002 when she moved to southern California. An avid swimmer from age 40, Arlene was drawn to the Pacific Ocean. Her ashes were scattered, as was her wish, in a private family service at the Oceanside Harbor.

I will always remember her great sense of style. And i will always remember the sweetness of her face as she brushed Gayle's hair at our Blessingway for Gayle and Asher. Later that day she thanked me saying how much joy that small act meant to her. I know it meant a lot to us. Blessings of Infinite Unbearable Compassion.

Her legacy is clear in the beautiful daughters she raised. Gayle and Elizabeth are her gifts to the world. May her artistic spirit and her passion for social justice live on through generations to come.
