Donald McKay Obituary
Donald H. McKay, 93, of Geneva, Illinois, and formerly of Fontana, Wisconsin died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He was born in Chicago on September 14, 1920, the eldest son of Harry and Julia McKay. On June 22, 1946 he was united in marriage to his late wife, Rosemarie. Together, with their seven children, they moved to St. Charles, Illinois in 1960 and made St. Charles their home for forty years. In 1947, he became co-founder and president of McKay Contractors, Inc. an underground utility contractor that performed heavy construction throughout the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area. He remained active in his business until his retirement in 1998. He was a long-time member of Big Foot Country Club in Fontana, Wisconsin, where he pursued his greatest passion, golf. He was an active member and officer of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago, as well as several other civic and charitable organizations in the Chicago area. He leaves behind his legacy of cherished family, coveted friendships and the myriad of lives he has touched. He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Natalie) of Fontana, Wi., Donald J. (Debora) of St. Charles, Il., three daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) McKay Breen of St. Charles, Il., Mary (Louis) LaBuda of Batavia, Il., and Susan (William) Burgman of St. Charles, Il., twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, daughter in law Louise. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie and two sons, James, of Miami, Fl., and William of St. Charles, Il. Funeral services are private.
