Dwight Fawcett Obituary

Dwight Winter Fawcett, longtime resident of Winnetka, Illinois and North Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on January 13, at the age of 89, in his Evanston home. Mr. Fawcett lived a full life marked by a strong devotion to his family and friends. He was the only child of Hazel and Dwight Ansley Fawcett. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Anne Fawcett (nee Langfitt) and his three children: Dwight "Pete" (Christina) Fawcett, Jane (Robert) Dearborn, and Donald (Adrienne) Fawcett. He is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren: Jackson, Thomas and Katherine Fawcett, Lucy Dearborn, Lynne (Hans) Schneider, Margot Dearborn, Madeleine, Cecelia and Teresa Fawcett. Because his father relocated often while working for the New York Central Railroad, Mr. Fawcett lived in multiple cities in Indiana and Ohio and attended seven different schools by the time he was 18. He joined the Navy in 1945 and was in training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland prior to the end of WWII. He graduated from Indiana University in 1948 and from Harvard Law School in 1951. After graduating from law school, he joined the Chicago law firm of Mayer Brown and enjoyed a career in bank and international law, representing clients in the United States, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He served on the firm's management committee and retired as a senior partner in 1991. In addition to his professional career, Mr. Fawcett was charitably active and served as a board member of Metropolitan Family Services, The Legal Aid Society, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, and St. Gregory's Episcopal School. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Church, 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Fawcett's name may be made to The William Kehoe Medical Student Scholarship Fund at Rush Medical College Department of Philanthropy, 1700 West Van Buren Street, Suite 250, Chicago, Illinois 60612 or http://rush.convio.net/DFawcett.

January 29, 2017

I offer my condolences and prayers for Dwight, and the entire family. I always enjoyed talking with him and when he and Anne would be at parties and events with my Mother and Father Alfred and Blanch Miossi. Dwight was a most insightful and caring person and his words of wisdom were never lost in me. My parents always spoke so highly of Dwight, and enjoyed his company.
My prayers are with Dwight's soul and Anne and the entire Fewcett family, may God comfort you all. Your all in my thoughts and prayers.
