Obituary Condolences

Edward H. Kahn, a longtime resident of Oak Brook and Burr Ridge, passed away on Sept. 7, 2012. He was the devoted husband of the late Ardell J. Kahn, nee Poll. He is survived by one son, Daniel (Tanya) Kahn two daughters, Cynthia (Allen) Avers-Frank and Lauren (Andrew) Bachar; four grandchildren, Keenan Avers, Sam Avers, Hunter Bachar and Olivia Bachar. Mr. Kahn grew up in Chicago and was born to Gladys, nee Stein, and Edward Kahn Sr. on Sept. 25, 1932. He attended Sullivan High School, Class of '51 and played Varsity Football all four years. He attended Drake University, Football 1952. He graduated Tau Kappa Epsilon from Western Michigan University in 1956. As a Chicago life guard he was credited with saving 21 lives. Mr. Kahn was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was in the Army Reserves until 1964. He rose from Sales Representative at H. Kohnstamm Company to become Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He retired in 1995. He was an active member of the men's league of Village Greens of Woodridge Golf Course for 32 years. A Memorial Service for Mr. Kahn will be held at Burr Ridge United Church of Christ, 15 W 100 Plainfield Rd., Burr Ridge, IL on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at 11 a.m.
