Edward Joseph Balaban, passed away on Jan. 10 at the age of 82. Ed was born Jan. 11, 1929, raised in Chicago, moving to Ojai, CA in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; children, Michele, Mary Kay, Michael, Judy, Marty and Amy; and nine grandchildren. He served in the Korean War. Ed was an accountant for Cook County and frequented local eateries for an eggplant sandwich or pizza. Ed ensured a Catholic education for his children. He volunteered at church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Ed was an avid bowler, ardent sports fan (Cubs, not Sox) and extraordinary carpenter. He gave to every charity he could. Ed even had a Facebook page. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Marie; sister, Shirley; and nieces, Mary Ann and Cathy. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to MaryKnoll.
