Elaine J. Dash, age 66, of Hobart, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 30, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana to Elna Hampton. She retired in 2009 from Walgreen's. She was a very creative person who enjoyed working on dollhouses, making egg dioramas and painting. She loved to write poems and had been published in the Reader's Digest. She was just as creative in how she loved people. Elaine will always be remembered as a dedicated advocate for any person or animal in need. Elaine is survived by her daughters: TraciLyn Burchett, Tanya (Robert) Miller; grandchildren: Jacob Doffmeyer, Kyle Miller, Kelsey Miller, Alisha Miller, Mary Miller and Robert Miller Jr.; great grandchildren: Jason, Brett, Eizzabella and Emily; cousins: Diane (Al) Fraser and their children Alec and Kyle, Carol (Lester) Core, Karen (Dick) Freckleton; god daughter: Holly Swift; nephew: Shawn; nieces Kerri and Kristi; several other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elna Hampton; son: Daniel Dash; grandson: Andrew Miller; sister: Sonja Kogler. Memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be made to the March of Dimes or the Independent Cat Society. A funeral service for Elaine will take place Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013. Not a day goes by that I don't miss the best friend anyone ever had. To laugh at each other brought us both such joy. You cared so much about all those around you and were loved by many, but especially this cousin of yours.
